CASE STUDY #2

This project involved a LAN that was experiencing poor performance. We recommended that the system be
 studied to determine how the LAN was functioning and what, if anything, it need to perform better. 

After several hours of system monitoring, modeling, and careful analysis, we determined that there was insufficient bandwidth to meet the customer’s needs.

Further, we determined that the frame size on the LAN was not optimized for the type of work that the customer performed.

 We recommended that a new, switched architecture be installed with a mix of fast and regular Ethernet to meet the needs of the customer. In addition, we investigated further the causes of the small frame sizes and rectified them.

 Result: LAN satisfaction and reliability increased and customer was able to expand its offerings via the LAN.
